Ellen Page, is best known for her Oscar-nominated role in “Juno”
and recently starred in “Freeheld” with Julianne Moore. Ellen has become an advocate for L.G.B.T. rights after coming out as a lesbian in 2014. Over the past year Ellen has worked on a documentary series called ‘Gaycation’. In this series Ellen and her good friend Ian Daniel travel around the world and explore LGBT groups in all these different countries.
Ellen travels to places like Brazil, Jamaica and Japan and the core of the show is to focus on LGBT culture in different places. During the filming Ellen spoke to the New York Times ‘No matter what country you’re in, you’re going to find LGBT people who are vulnerable and struggling. For me, it was also a journey of learning more about LGBT history and culture and also to demonstrate what it means to be a gay person and travel around the world’
This is definitely a must watch, and it will also give you some honeymoon ideas as Ellen says ‘If I’m in a resort, does that mean I can go into town holding my girlfriend’s hand? Maybe not. It’s not really about us traveling, it’s about the communities we meet. But also, we’re showing the joy of travel and the learning and expansion that come from it’ Who knows you might come across a destination you never dreamed of going.
